Yardperson

We’re currently seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yardperson to join a busy equipment hire operation based in Mount St John, Townsville. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering consistent hours with the potential for long-term employment.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on position where you’ll play a key role in ensuring fleet equipment is clean, safe, and ready for hire while maintaining a well-organised yard.

What’s on offer:

• Start Date: 15th June
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 38-hour week
• Pay Rate: $38.75 per hour + penalties
• Employment Type: Casual - temp to perm

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and prepare fleet and equipment for hire
• Assist with basic maintenance of non–high-risk equipment
• Perform yard duties to maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace
• Safely load and unload equipment from vehicles
• Inspect returned equipment and report any damage
• Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately
• Assist with stock control, stocktakes, and asset management
• Support the wider team with general operational duties as required

About You:

• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Previous experience in the rental/hire industry (advantageous)
• Ability to perform physical, hands-on work
• Mechanical aptitude or experience with basic maintenance tasks
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Mandatory Requirements:

• Current Driver’s Licence
• Current Forklift Licence (LF)

Highly Regarded:

• High Risk Work Licence – WP (Elevating Work Platform)
• Experience loading/unloading hire equipment
• Background in equipment repairs, handyman, or maintenance work
