HMG is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our high-performing workshop team. This hands-on role suits a motivated tradesperson who takes pride in precision machining, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

In this role, you will program, set, and operate CNC machine tools to manufacture high-quality components to specification.

This role is ideal for a tradesperson who thrives in a precision-focused, safety-conscious environment and enjoys working on varied and challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines using machine controls and CAM software
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Carry out fitting, machining, and assembly work as required
• Edit and optimise programs to improve cycle times and product quality

• Conduct quality checks using precision measuring equipment
• Maintain machines, tooling, and a safe, clean work area
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and team members

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Trade qualification (Certificate III Engineering) as a Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker (or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience as a CNC Programmer/Machinist
• Demonstrate CAM experience, MasterCam high desired.
• Hands‑on experience with FANUC, Okuma control systems
• Strong understanding of CNC programming, tooling, and cutting parameters
• Ability to work from detailed drawings and tight tolerances
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
