CNC Programmer / Operator

HMG is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Operator to join our high‑performing workshop team. This is a hands‑on role suited to a motivated tradesperson who takes pride in precision machining, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machine tools to manufacture high‑quality components to specification.

This role is ideal for a tradesperson who thrives in a precision-focused, safety-conscious environment and enjoys working on challenging and diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Perform fitting, machining, and assembly work as required
• Edit and optimise programs to improve cycle times and quality
• Conduct quality checks using precision measuring equipment
• Maintain machines, tooling, and a safe, clean work area
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and team members

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Trade qualification (Certificate III Engineering) as a Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker (or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience as a CNC Programmer/Machinist
• Hands‑on experience with FANUC, Okuma, and Mazatrol control systems
• Strong understanding of CNC programming, tooling, and cutting parameters
• Ability to work from detailed drawings and tight tolerances
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
