About the Role
This permanent Fitter & Turner position is based at our Paget workshop on Commercial Avenue, with flexibility across Day or Afternoon shift.
Roster & Location
- Day or Afternoon shift available
- Afternoon shift starts at 2:30pm with 24% shift loading
- Paget, Mackay (Commercial Avenue)
Key Responsibilities
As a Fitter & Turner at Austchrome, you will work on the manufacture, refurbishment, and assembly of mechanical and hydraulic components, including:
- Fitting, assembling, and overhauling mechanical and hydraulic components
- Precision machining using manual lathes and milling machines (as required)
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering and CAD drawings
- Working to tight tolerances and exact specifications
- Conducting in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments
- Diagnosing faults and performing corrective repairs
- Collaborating with skilled trades across machining, fabrication, and plating
- Maintaining a high standard of safety and compliance with all procedures and work instructions

About You
Ideally, you will bring:
- Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner (or Mechanical Fitter)
- Experience assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical or hydraulic components
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- A safety-first mindset
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a close-knit team
