HMG Hardchrome is seeking applications from experienced, trade-qualified Fitter/Machinists for a permanent Production Leading Hand role within our Production Department (Large Line).

This opportunity is suited to a hands-on leader who enjoys working on the tools, leading by example, supporting team performance, and delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality production outcomes in a busy workshop environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this permanent, full-time role will see you provide day-to-day leadership and operational support across the Large Line within our Production Department.

You will coordinate workflow on the floor, actively support production staff, uphold safety standards, and ensure production targets and quality requirements are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership and direction to production employees
  • Coordinate daily workflow to meet production targets and deadlines
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices and compliance with site procedures
  • Monitor job progress, workflow efficiency, and quality of completed work
  • Assist with problem-solving and escalate issues when required
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team culture
  • Liaise closely with the Production Supervisor and workshop teams to ensure smooth operations

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Australian recognised trade qualification as Fitter/Machinist (essential)
  • Proven experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand or in a similar supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of production processes and safety requirements
  • Ability to lead by example and support a high-performing team
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate work effectively
  • A strong commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
