We are seeking experienced Diesel Fitters to support an upcoming major shutdown in Gladstone this May–June. Positions are available across Day Shift and Night Shift.

- Shutdown dates: 18 May 2026 – 12 June 2026
- Roster: 13/1
- Hours: 12-hour shifts (Day shift 6am-6pm) or (Night shift 6pm-6am)
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Repairs
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on diesel-powered equipment and associated plant.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns during shutdown operations in a timely and safe manner.
- Carry out servicing and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect machinery and equipment for faults, wear, and compliance issues.
- Ensure all repaired equipment is fully operational prior to return to service.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
Equipment Inspection & Compliance
- Conduct pre-start inspections and condition assessments on shutdown equipment.
- Ensure equipment meets safety and compliance requirements prior to deployment.
- Identify potential mechanical failures and proactively recommend repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance and repairs.
Shutdown Toolstore Support
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the shutdown toolstore.
- Support the issue and return of tools, equipment, and consumables to shutdown crews.
- Conduct equipment checks prior to issue and upon return.
- Assist with stock control, inventory management, and equipment tracking.
- Ensure the toolstore is organised, safe, and operationally efficient.
What we're looking for:
Essential
- Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic
- 3-site medical (Yarwun / BSL / QAL)
- Experience maintaining diesel-powered plant and equipment ( Air compressors, Light towers, Generators, EWP’s)
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience working in shutdown or industrial environments
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to breakdowns efficiently
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working with hire fleet equipment
- Experience supporting shutdown toolstores or equipment logistics
- Forklift licence
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence
