The Role
We’re seeking reliable and mechanically minded Trades Assistants to join our workshop team in Pinkenba on day shift.

This is a labour hire role through our recruitment partner Haynes People, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role at HMG for the right candidate.

As a Trades Assistant you will support qualified tradespeople in the workshop, handling a variety of hands-on tasks and contributing to the smooth flow of repair and manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting tradespeople with day-to-day workshop activities and repairs
• Preparing and organising tools, parts, and equipment for jobs
• Performing basic mechanical tasks, cleaning, and general labouring duties
• Operating hand and power tools safely under supervision
• Assisting with loading, unloading, and moving materials (forklift operation if licensed)
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
• Following all HMG health, safety, and environmental policies

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanically minded with a genuine interest in learning and supporting workshop operations
• Previous workshop or trade assistant experience (preferred but not essential)
• Forklift ticket highly regarded
• Reliable, motivated, and safety-conscious with a strong work ethic
• Able to perform manual handling tasks
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
