About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to champion all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment across our operations.

You’ll work closely with frontline teams and management to:

  • Develop, implement, and review policies and safe work procedures
  • Conduct site-based safety engagements (Take 5s, JSAs, audits, etc.), inspections and audits
  • Lead complex incident investigations, oversee corrective actions and act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate injury management and return-to-work programs
  • Drive continuous improvement and cultural change in HSEQ practices
  • Develop and drive the HSEQ strategic plan for AustChrome, and the wider Sime Industrial Services business, as required
  • Provide expert counsel and mentorship to senior management to champion a proactive safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards
  • Maintain documentation and data in line with company standards
  • Deliver data analysis and HSE reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Proactively promote health initiatives across the workforce

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in a HSEQ-related discipline (mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or engineering
  • Strong technical knowledge of WHS legislation and Qld Codes of Practice
  • Proven experience in ISO management systems and certification
  • ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation (desired) and/or proven incident investigation experience
  • A self-starter who can take initiative, with the ability to prioritise work, meet HSE project deadlines, and manage conflicting and changing priorities, in line with business objectives and targets
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive performance against strategic plans, providing expert counsel and mentorship to senior management, to champion a proactive safety culture
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, influencing stakeholders (including governing bodies and unions) and managing HSE within a similar heavy industry/major projects environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner with people at all levels in the organisation, provide clear advice, coach, and influence team members
  • Strong working knowledge of HSEQ systems and digital safety reporting tools –g. SharePoint, MS Teams, Rapid Global, Incident Reporting Software, Power BI.
