Austchrome offers dedicated and specialised services for all aspects of repairs and our facility supports this process with modern equipment and experienced trade qualified operators. We are the experts in hydraulic cylinder manufacture and repair, component reclamation and surface technology solutions.
With large inspection bays, painting booths and dozens of overhead and jib cranes, our facility is tailor-made to meet the largest reclamation requirements!
The Role
We’re looking for highly skilled CNC Machinists to join our day-shift workshop team in Paget.
You’ll be programming, setting and operating CNC machines on a wide range of components – often large and complex – with the chance to work across multiple machines in a precision-focused environment. CAD/CAM knowledge is highly desirable, and this role is ideal for someone who thrives on producing accurate, high quality work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision components using Fanuc and Okuma controllers
- Running multiple CNC machines efficiently and managing workflow to meet production targets
- Operating manual borers
- Reading and interpreting complex engineering and CAD drawings to produce jobs to exact specifications
- Using CAD/CAM software (highly regarded) to create or edit CNC programs
- Machining hydraulic cylinder components, shafts, and other heavy industrial parts to tight tolerances
- Conducting in-process quality checks with micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Performing machine adjustments, tool changes, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborating with workshop team members to troubleshoot and deliver on deadlines
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace in line with HMG safety standards
What We’re Looking For
- Trade-qualified CNC Machinist (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent)
- Proven CNC machining experience — programming, setting, and operating
- Ability to confidently operate multiple machines (lathes and mills)
- Experience working with large or complex components to close tolerances
- Strong understanding of G-code and CNC control systems
- CAD/CAM software knowledge (highly desirable)
- Skilled in precision measurement and quality assurance checks
- Ability to work independently with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
