HAYNES is currently seeking a proactive and experienced Workshop Team Leader to oversee a high-performing workshop team on behalf of our valued client. In this key leadership role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the efficient servicing, maintenance, and operational readiness of a diverse range of hire equipment. Ideal for a hands-on leader with strong mechanical expertise and a passion for team development.
Position Details:
- Monday to Friday roster
- Located Darwin, NT 0822
- 6:30am – 3:30pm (flexible hours)
- $51.00 – $55.00 per hour + $17.90/week tool allowance
- Permanent position
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and mentor workshop staff to ensure quality workmanship and professional growth
- Coordinate workshop operations, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard
- Maintain availability of parts, tools, and consumables to avoid downtime
- Ensure all work is compliant with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Accurately complete and submit required documentation for yourself and your team
- Support the Branch Manager with recruitment, onboarding, performance, and training activities
- Provide technical support and guidance to both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised workshop environment
- Carry out servicing, inspections, and repairs both in the workshop and on customer sites as required.
What We're Looking For:
- Trade qualification in mechanical, hydraulic, fitting, or auto electrical (preferred)
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar leadership role or workshop environment
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- High-risk work licences for Forklift and EWP (desirable)
- Strong planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills
- Knowledge of equipment hire servicing, maintenance, and repair standards
- Proven leadership and communication skills with a collaborative and hands-on approach
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and the ability to promote a positive safety culture
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening
