Diesel Fitter/Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

Haynes currently has an opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter to work alongside our valued clients located in Richmond, with relocation assistance for those transitioning to permanent.

HV Mechanic/Diesel Fitter (Richmond)

• Competitive Pay: $63/hr + penalties (Monday to Friday)
• Meal Allowance: $19.43 for shifts over 10 hours
• Tool Allowance: Paid weekly at $22.25
• No Weekend or Public Holiday Work
• Accommodation Provided: Free for short-term workers; subsidised for permanent staff
• Relocation Assistance: Up to $7K (for permanent role)
• Travel Expenses: Reimbursed (flights and/or fuel if not local to Richmond)

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general & scheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs on civil earthmoving machinery and various trucks
• Work on a diverse fleet of vehicles, including graders, dozers, excavators, and semi-trailers
• Engage in heavy mechanical work and collaborate with apprentices (if applicable)
• Ensure work complies with safety standards and procedures
• Be available for on-call when necessary (though no weekend or public holiday work)

About You:

• Cert 3 in HV Mechanical or Diesel Fitting (LV mechanics with relevant experience may be considered)
• Experience working with civil earthmoving equipment and heavy trucks
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Ability to pass PEM & DAS
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Passion for heavy vehicle maintenance and repair
