Job Description

The "Business Development Manager - East" role is central to our growth aspirations. Reporting to the Manager - Business Development and working integrally with our technical subject matter experts, you will lead the charge in identifying, qualifying, and closing opportunities in agreed target markets and sectors.

A large part of the role involves developing new strategic client relationships. You will possess a deep and existing network of contacts within the mining industry, and will build upon this through direct calling, remote and face-to-face meetings and networking events.

To excel in this role, you must be highly motivated, collaborative, well networked, quick to learn, innovative, and energised by the opportunity to sell high-end digital solutions to address some of the biggest and toughest challenges the industry is facing. As a result, you must possess significant experience in business development within the mining sector. This is ideally obtained during time spent in a digital services company or consulting firm.

You will be tasked with:

  • Driving new revenue growth for Decoda's Mining Productivity business.
  • Creating a territory strategy and plan to achieve sales targets and monthly KPIs.
  • Meeting at customer sites and offices to introduce Decoda's solutions portfolio and demonstrate the value for customers, including the introduction of new technology developments.
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of technical subject matter experts across our business, who combine to solve some of the biggest challenges in the mining industry.
  • Working with technology specialists and product owners to continuously improve our offering and customer experience by incorporating customer feedback.
  • Participating in the writing/management of proposals, presentations, meetings, workshops, and marketing materials to support specific opportunity pursuits from "Analytics as a Service" through to change management and digital execution.
  • Demonstrating proof of value (POV) of product and service offerings to customers during entire sales cycle.
  • Continuously tracking competitor relationships, marketing activity, customer focus, products and strategic initiatives and activities in your region to develop both regional and global competitor analyses.
  • Representing Decoda within mining industry technical and social organisations at all levels, at industry events and conferences, and in our communities.

  • Willing to spend up to 50% of your time travelling to client sites and office locations.
  • An operational background in mining would be advantageous

What you need to succeed in the role:

  • Tertiary Education or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of previous BDM experience including exposure to the mining and minerals industry
  • Experience selling digital professional services
  • High Degree of business and sales acumen
  • Broad knowledge of mining industry technologies, processes and environments
  • Sound knowledge of commercial, economic & business issues relating to the mining industry
  • Full proficiency in MS Office and willingness to work within Decoda's CRM tools.
